Detailed guidelines for applicants

International Students with a non-German Bachelor degree

Step 1 Inform Yourself

Read the requirements for the application:

  1. Scientific Requirements
  2. Formal Requirements

Step 2 Scientific Check

  • If you think you comply with the requirements, fill in the form Scientific Check Sheet including self-assessment of programming skills and send it together with the Bachelor transcript of records as one pdf file to csis[at]uni-wuppertal.de.
Enquiries without the Scientific Check Sheet will not be considered.

You can start sending the enquiry from now on but you will not receive a reply before spring.
Please do not send any other documents to us as they will not be considered for our decision.
  • Indicate two choices for the specialization in preferred order. The number of places in each specialization is limited. Therefore the final choice has to be left to us.
  • If we decide that you are eligible for the master programme from the scientific point of view we will send you a confirmation which is a key precondition for the admission.

Step 3 Formal Application

  • After the Scientific Check contact and register yourself to uni-assist and prepare the following list of documents:
  1. A copy of your passport.
  2. Non-German school-leaving certificates, with grade or grades achieved.
  3. Certificate of any university entrance examination taken in your home country, or university admission test at a preparatory institute (Studienkolleg) in Germany or the TestAS certificate.
  4. Evidence of completion, or part completion, of a degree program (subject and grade transcripts, diploma or degree certificate etc.).
  5. Evidence of proficiency in English.
  6. Admission letter from the CSiS master committee (see step 2).
  7. If you are or were at any time enrolled at a German university or institute of higher education, enclose your current (or most recent) certificate of registration (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) detailing the subject and number of semesters studied.

Note that: If the certificates are in a language other than English, an officially certified translation into German is also needed.

  • Upload corresponding documents and apply online with uni-assist between March 15 and July 15.

Please note: The application period with uni-assist starts on March 15 for this program. Based upon our experience of the last years we strongly recommend to apply without much delay as depending on which country you come from it will take a long time to get your visa. So if you do not want to delay the start of your studies by one year send your application and - if you get our notification that you are eligible from the scientific point of view - your payment as soon as possible to uni-assist.
