The University of Wuppertal is one of Germany's most distinguished research institutions in lattice gauge theory. Among the interests of the local groups are: quantum chromodynamics (QCD), thermodynamics of quarks and gluons, chiral fermions, CP violation, Higgs physics and extra dimensions. Another main interest of the high energy theory group is the computer-algebra assisted computation of Feynman graphs, in particular for Higgs physics and supersymmetry. There is a close cooperation with the Research Center FZ Jülich, Jülich Supercomputing Centre, with the John von Neumann Institute for Computing (NIC), within the Helmholtz Alliance “Physics at the Terascale” and intensive international collaborations. The University of Wuppertal together with the University of Regensburg run the national research network SFB/TRR 55 Hadron Physics from Lattice QCD.
