The MSc programme Computer Simulation in Science (CSiS) is taught in English and focuses on the application of computer-oriented techniques and methods to modern research problems in natural sciences.
The program duration is 4 semesters. The courses last for 3 semesters. There are compulsory courses in Computer Simulation, Computer Science and Numerical Methods. Particular topics are parallel computing (there is a dedicated parallel computer), GRID computing and advanced numerical algorithms. In addition and in parallel to the compulsory courses, students take elective courses for specialization in one Disciplinary Science to be chosen from: The 4th semester is for the Master's thesis which consists of a simulation project in the chosen Disciplinary Science.
Students who successfully complete the program will be awarded the degree of Master of Science (M.Sc.). The degree is offered since 2004 and has been officially accredited by the agency AQAS on May 6, 2008. It can lead to a PhD as well as to research departments of industries or finance.
