Important Information for International Students

As an international student, you need a visa and proof of sufficient funds. The visa process can take several months, so we recommend applying for a visa in good time. You can usually make an appointment to apply for a visa before you receive your admission letter. But you will definitely need your admission letter at the appointment. Learn about the specific documents required for your visa application, the required level of financial proof, and the available funding options for your studies in Germany.

Please find more information about Student Visa Germany and Blocked Account.

Step 1: Inform Yourself

Read the requirements for the application:

Requirements for applicants

Step 2: Scientific Check

  • If you meet the requirements, fill in the Scientific Check Sheet including self-assessment of programming skills and send it together with the Bachelor´s Transcript and optionally a CV as one pdf-file to csis[at]uni-wuppertal.de by September 15th.
Enquiries without the Scientific Check Sheet will not be considered.
Please do not send any other documents to us, as they will not be considered for our decision.
  • Indicate two choices for the specialization in preferred order. The number of places in each specialization is limited, so the final choice has to be left to us. If your first priority choice is failed, the second is examined. If it is also failed, you will receive the denial and your application will be cancelled.
  • If we decide that you are eligible for the master´s programme from the scientific point of view, we will send you a confirmation which is a key precondition for the admission.

Step 3: After getting notification e-mail

  • Please apply online to the Admission and Registration Office for International Students per e-mail: intsek[at]uni-wuppertal.de. As the semester normally starts on October 1st, you need to apply as soon as possible, preferably BEFORE this date. CSiS will send you the e-mail with the confirmation. If you missed this deadline, the overall application deadline is October 15th. After this date your application will not be accepted by the Admission and Registration Office for International Students, even if the CSiS Board sent you the confirmation of your admission to the programme. Please, respect the deadlines.

Whereas the Computer Simulation in Science Master´s Programme is taught completely in English, it is very important that student has the level enough good to study. Because of that we decided on the minimum language level and obligatory proofs that applicants must have. Generally speaking, you need to have the minimum of B2 Level of English, but more details about the language requirements with exact grades you can find on the Requirements page, in the “Language Requirements” section:

Requirements

The skills and knowledge you gain during your studies at Bachelor´s level differ from country to country and from one university to another. To be sure that your knowledge corresponds with the level to begin your studies on CSiS Master´s Programme, we introduced the requirements which you can find by the following link:

Requirements for applicants

Usually, the application process follows the same deadlines every year:

  • Application through uni-assist: from November 15th to March 31st
  • Deadline for those who apply with the German Bachelor´s Degree for sending the application documents to csis[at]uni-wuppertal.de: September 15th
  • Application at the Admission and Registration Office for International Students (IntSek): until October 15th (but preferably before October 1st)
  • Beginning of the winter semester (studies on CSiS begin only in the winter semester): October 1st
  • The last day students can come to begin their studies offline on CSiS Programme: October 31st
  • The last day for admitted students who can not come, and want to defer their studies for the next year, to apply for such deferral: October 31st

If you got an Admission Letter, but for some reasons (for example, delay with a visa) you could not attend your studies by October 31st, you have the right to defer your admission for one year. You need to do it in advance, the deadline for the application for the deferral is also October 31st: so if you understand that you will have no possibility to come to Wuppertal for your studies by this date, don´t miss the deadline and inform the Admission and Registration Office for International Students per e-mail: intsek[at]uni-wuppertal.de. You can use this option only once, and it means that if you are not able to come the next year as well, your admission becomes invalid, and if you would still have interest in studying on the CSiS Master´s Programme, you will need to apply via uni-assist again.
